A woman died after intentionally jumping from the fourth floor of a Hudson Valley mall.

The incident took place in Rockland County around 9:45 a.m., Thursday, July 20, at the Palisades Center Mall in West Nyack.

According to Detective Norm Peters, of the Clarkstown Police Department, arriving officers located the woman on the lower level of the mall. 

She had "fallen" from the fourth floor, he added.

Peters said Thursday that the incident had been categorized as a suicide.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the deceased," Peters said. "We would like to remind everyone that services are available."

The name of the woman was not released.

According to Clarkstown Police Department Detective Norm Peters, the incident was considered a suicide, and officials are waiting for formal notification of family members before releasing additional information, including where in the mall the incident happened.
